Why Costa Rica?
Costa Rica has become the vacation destination of choice for the current
generation interested in health, nature, and adventure. It is a place of
simplicity and tranquility highlighted by the friendly educated people.
With a rich heritage and a paradise of natural habitats to explore, Costa
Rica is the perfect place to revitalize and motivate your group.
Costa Rica is one of the oldest democracies in the Americas. Costa Ricans
enjoy full political stability and peace in a country that has had no army
since it was abolished in the mid-20th century. The government makes the
necessary funds available for medical services and education, both
achieving outstanding success. In the case of education, 93% of the
population can read and write. Life expectancy is between 72 and 75 years
of age, an excellent average. It is no wonder that many U.S. citizens
have retired in Costa Rica.
- Geography and Climate -
Costa Rica holds a privileged place in the world, located in the very
center of the isthmus of Central America. It is flanked to the east by the
Caribbean, the west by the Pacific Ocean, and it is the mid-way point of
North and South America. The total surface area is only 20,000 square
miles situated between two oceans. The temperature varies between 58 and
72 degrees Fahrenheit in the Central Valley and between 72 and 82 degrees
in the lowlands. These temperatures remain relatively stable year round
with more rainfall between May to November. There are 12 hours of daylight
year round.
- Protected Areas, Flora and Fauna -
Costa Rica has set aside over 25% of the country's total area as National
Parks and Wildlife Reserves, a larger percentage than any other country in
the world. These parks and reserves are ideal for hiking, biking, and bird
watching. Visitors enjoy rivers, beaches, forests, waterfalls, and
volcanoes. These beautiful tropical areas will enrich the life of the
visitor. The strap lines of the Costa Rican Tourist Board have been: "Tan
Your Soul" and "No Artificial Ingredients". Both are indicative of how the
traveler "feels" when visiting Costa Rica.
- Access -
Costa Rica has two international airports. The capital, San Jose is a
short 2 1/2 hour flight from Miami and 3 1/2 hours from Houston. Four
major U.S. airlines have non stop service from Miami, Houston, Dallas,
Atlanta, and New York. In addition, several cruise lines have added Costa
Rica to their itineraries. Windstar and Temptress Cruises operate 7 night
itineraries along the golden Pacific Coast. Within Costa Rica our clients
travel in modern air-conditioned coaches and vans, rental cars, or on the
domestic airlines, Travelair and Sansa.
- Hotels, Resorts, and More -
Because tourism is the #1 product, Costa Rica is fully equipped to handle
groups of all sizes and will please even the most discriminating traveler.
