Chirripo National Park
Location: Central Valley & Highlands

Chirripo National Park is home to the highest peak in Costa Rica.
Mount Chirripo is 3,820 meters high and resembles the type of paramo life
zone associated with the Andes in Peru. If you plan to hike to the top, you
will need to contact the park services before arrival to make reservations,
and you should only go during the dry season. There are areas suitable
for technical rock climbing, as well as excellent opportunites for wildlife
viewing and nature photography.
If you are planning to hike to the top, allow 2 to 3 days for your total
hike, have your own equipment, including a stove if you want hot food, and
be aware of the altitude and weather conditions.
