North Central Region map The North Central region is the area of volcanoes, cloud forest, cattle ranches, bubbling mud and transitional dry forests. There are several good roads into this area and many things to do. The primary attraction is the Arenal Volcano National Park, which is a "must see" for any visitor to Costa Rica. Also in this area is the magical Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. For those not able to go to Tortuguero National Park, there is a jungle boat experience in the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge.
