Arenal Lodge is a comfortable lodge amidst the beautiful Costa Rican jungle, where the spectacular view of Arenal Volcano combines with Costa Rican hospitality. Fishing, Mountain Biking, Hiking and Bird Watching are just some of the activities you can enjoy during your stay at the Arenal Lodge.

The main building has been deliberately constructed to bring the outdoors inside. Even the transparent roof over the inner patio evokes the impression of being outdoors. Landscaped gardens surround the rooms, bar and restaurant, and ferns, flowers and orchids are everywhere.

The lodge consists of more than 30 rooms. 16 Junior Suites, 1 luxurious Master Suite, 1 luxurious Matrimonial Suite, 10 Chalets, and 6 Standard Rooms. All rooms, with the exception of the Standards, have views of the Arenal volcano. Arenal Lodge provides free transportation to Tabacon Hot Springs.

Biking
Mountain biking is an exhilarating experience that presents something new Around every corner. You don't need a pilot's license or a college degree in gymnastics; just be hungry for fun in the great outdoors. Cycling in the lush tropical forest is a unique and unforgettable experience!

Even if you're not a racer you can always go for a ride to enjoy the beautiful sights of the Arenal region. The Arenal Lodge has many bikes to choose from, just bring your adventurous spirit.

Fishing
The 75 sq. km lake is the perfect spot for avid anglers. There are two primary sport fish in our lake: Machaca and Rainbow Bass (guapote).

The Rainbow Bass (guapote) is a most challenging game fish that can only be found in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras's fresh water rivers and lakes. In Arenal lake, guapote can weigh up to 12 pounds. The Machaca are flashy acrobatic fish which can reach nine pounds here and 15 pounds in northern and coastal rivers.

Arenal Lake was formed in 1978 when the Arenal River was diverted to fill what is today a 40,000 sq. acre artificial lake. Water depth near the dam runs up to 190 feet; and its temperature varies less than 4 degrees Fahrenheit year round.

With a fishing package you can fish from one of our 16-foot Mirrowcraft deep V boats with 30 hp Mariner motors and electric trolling motors. Each boat has a large forward casting area and seating for 2 anglers plus the guide. Casting and spinning rods with all necessary lures are included in the cost of the package.
