Hacienda Dona Marta
Location: Central Pacific, Carara Biological Refuge
Hacienda Dona Marta is surrounded by vast prairies on which the activities of cattle breeding and stock raising have been developed for more than fifty years. From the early eighties, the activities of the Hacienda have diversified by the introduction of mango plantations and top quality hardwoods native to the region. It consists of an ongoing operation, where our hosts can enjoy and share the daily activities. The old “Casona” has been completely restored, and six spacious and modern cabins have been built, and together they surround the pool and restaurant area. We pay special attention to the excellence in our meals, which stay faithful to the traditional style of Costa Rica’s country kitchen. Very popular activities are the horse back rides during the day and the country barbeques during the evening. The hacienda is located 50 miles west from downtown San Jose, making it ideal because of its proximity with the most important tourist attractions of the region, such is the case of Carara Biological Reserve, the Iguana farm, and the wonderful beaches of the Nicoya Peninsula.
